“Great Doctor Long time Patient”
Dr. McRacken has been my urologist for the last several years. I have found him to be excellent at listening to me as I explain what is occurring with me medically. Each year confirms my medical condition and keeps excellent notes. The staff at AUNC is very professional and does a good job moving you through the process.
Dr. McCraken knows his stuff. However, in my personal experience, he was not very understanding or empathetic. I visited Dr. McCracken several times. I also missed three apointments without notice. Dr. McCracken "fired" me as a client. I understood this, and didn't blame him. It is not like me to miss appointments, and I was very embarrassed. I hand delivered a letter of apology, and even included a small gift (I make hand-crafted women's' jewelry, so I sent a pair of earrings, suggesting hi wife or daughter might like them).i explained that I had recently begun experiencing cognitive difficulties, probably as a result of my cancer and other ailments, and the aggressive treatments I had received. I got no response. After a couple of weeks, I wrote to him again, reiterating my apology. Still no response. I had expected he would accept my apology and thank me for the gift. Or that he might acknowledge but NOT accept my apology, and thank me for my gift. But I expected him to reply in some way. He never did. I found this behavior unprofessional, and indicative of sn unforgiving and non-empathtic nature.. Overall, I'd say he is very knowledgable and will serve you well, UNLESS you become a challenge for him -- such as I did with what appears to be early onset dementia (still awaiting answers from my neurologist). I would not recommend him.
