Before getting my surgery, I was always in pain to the point that sometimes if I bent over to pick up an object, I wouldn't be able to get back up. The intense and constant pain I had in my neck is gone, the pain in my arm is almost gone and is getting better every day. I am moving and extremely active and I often forget, I had this surgery less than a year ago. After PT and pain management treatments were not effective in relieving my back pain, I consulted with Dr. Smith along with two neurosurgeons to explore surgical options. Though I felt that any of the three would do a competent job, Dr. Smith went out of his way to support me in my decision-making process. He was very responsive when I had questions. I compared his minimally-invasive approach to the traditional open surgery the other two were proposing, and the result has been amazing. At my 2-week post-op follow-up, I have still some soreness as expected but by and large I am back to "light duty" around the house, taking walks, etc. There are no signs of the pain I had prior to the surgery, and as the discomfort from surgery fades, I look forward to returning to doing the things that my pain was preventing me from doing.

First, from my first appointment with Dr. Smith he listened to my concerns. He gathered information from my previous records, current x-rays and listening to my past/present experiences. I was so pleased that he never pushed for surgery as that was my last choice yet never stated it. After there was no other option he suggested that it was time for surgery. He spoke to my daughters before the surgery in length and made them feel at ease about his expertise. The surgery went well and each follow up visit with Dr. Smith was as comfortable as my first. I thank Dr. Smith for giving me back the overall physical ability to do everything I used to do before. He and his staff have been so kind, professional and have made themselves available for any questions/concerns I had. Finally, I must add that I missed my recent appointment due to my own fault and both the staff and Dr. Smith adjusted their schedule to see me (who does that now days)! Rebecca T. Orozco

I had tears everyday to the point of not walking and staying in bed, Now I have tears of JOY from the doctor who gave me life to start living again.
