“Embarrassed and Devalued”
I had to beg to get an appointment with this doctor. After waiting three months for my appointment, I was chastised by the doctor for not "being better at following up with my healthcare" and getting in to see him more regularly. He also rudely accused me of being late for my appointment and told me "that's not going to fly here." My appointment was at 2:30 pm. I was there at 2:27. I waited for the one staff member checking everyone in to check in three people before me and checked in at 2:34. I have seen this doctor for 23 years. I briefly left him two years ago, because I felt he was ignoring progressing health issues to seek help from another doctor. I only returned to Dr DuMontier because the other doctor retired. I just want a doctor who sincerely cares about my quality of life. I don't want to be scolded for coming to them for help because their pride is bruised. If I'm supposed to be "better at following up on my healthcare," how did his belittling and embarrassing me encourage me to want to return?" I am a 58 year old woman that nearly broke down and cried. I just wanted to run out of his office! In the middle of trying to discuss anxiety issues I am having with him, he continued to scold me and dismiss any questions I had about my health care. It was obvious he wasn't listening and certainly didn't care about my health care. He was having a bad day and was only interested in taking it out on me. If you are looking for a new doctor, don't begin care with Dr. DuMontier. I feel abandoned after 23 years and now have to look for another doctor.
