I sat with Dr. Brentt in mediation. My first complaint is that he was completely unprepared for each meeting I had with him. He didn't read any of the information submitted to him, and spent half of the meetings rehashing what was said at the last meeting we had.
Several times during our sessions, he informed me that angered him and I "destroyed everything he had worked towards." At one point, he threatened to take my children from me if I "didn't get with the program." After one of our sessions he actually followed me out to my car to demand paperwork from my employer and insist I give him access to confidential information from my current therapist.
When I finally got his report after months of sessions and thousands of dollars, I was amazed at how inaccurate it was. He never bothered to check facts or find out the truth of accusations my ex made about me. Statements that could have long term impacts on my career and have had damaging impacts to my children. It was then that I found out he had been meeting with my ex without my knowledge, and those meetings had severely biased him.
In my opinion, Dr. Brentt has been doing this far too long. If you have a good relationship with your ex, I'm sure he would work out wonderfully. If you are at odds with your ex in any way, shape, or form, you probably want to find someone more willing to listen to both sides of the story.
