“So grateful to have found Dr. Marran”
Finding Dr. Marran has been a blessing- we see her for vision therapy. My son has struggled with, what I have come to learn, are vision issues for a long time. As toddler I noticed he moved awkwardly. He loved to be read to but became resistant when asked to look at pictures. Despite his strong language, skills we've struggled with beginning reading and comprehension skills. Attempts at any kind of drawing, coloring, or writing often ended badly. Even fun activities like matching pictures and doing puzzles was were a fight. Over the past five years we've worked through all sorts of sensory and motor planning activities with some improvements in motor planning but not with reading or writing. We worked with occupational therapists for a few years and had his eyes checked twice. Until an OT recommended we see a Developmental Optometrist. I searched and read reviews hoping to find the "right person". After reading about Dr. Marran's history, research in the field, and background with children we scheduled an appointment and never looked back. Dr. Marran conducted an assessment, provided us with a written report and met with us to discuss the results. My son has vision issues that can be improved with vision therapy. Unfortunately, he has also developed task avoidance behaviors to cope with his vision difficulties, but Dr. Marran is a pro and gets him through his therapy every time. We've been going to vision therapy for a couple months and my son has begun commenting on how some things are "easier to see." Vision therapy requires a lot of practice at home, but the pay off for your child is immeasurable. I have also seen Dr. Marran for my own eyes and have been pleased. I did not know Dr. Marran prior to coming to her office and she did not ask me to write this review. I'm just grateful to have found her and hope this review helps someone else land in the right place, too.
