We went to see the doctor, drove hours to see him only to find out he was on vacation. The office didn't us he was out. We didn't see a doctor at all. I ended up being referred to the hospital and at the hospital found out there was diabetes and it needed to be cared for immediately. I called for 2 days straight to make an appt and the office told me they'd call back. After 3 calls and messages, and many times told that they'd call back, never heard from anyone. In my 7th month (3rd trimester) I switched doctors. I only saw Dr. Lichtenstein at my initial visit, after that I saw one of three nurse practitioners (one was very unexperienced). I am a high risk patient due to my age and my history. The echo cardiogram he recommended at my initial visit was never ordered. I didn't realize until after switching to another doctor that a glucose tolerance test was procedure and not ordered. I found out that I do have gestational diabetes!! I should have had...
