“Put my ankle back together better than I ever could have hoped.”

Dr. Hembree was described by the Union Memorial staff as "the ankle doctor" who is said to "do like 5 of these surgeries a month" - while I can't vouch for the volume, Dr. Hembree's surgical skill, right down to the stitches, proves he's perfected his craft. Being an active person, I was really upset about trimalleolar fracture and dislocation (not to mention in a lot of pain!) but doc and the crew kept me optimistic and informed throughout, explaining the surgery, giving me realistic expectations and specific directions for my healing. Two and a half months after my injury I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym and resuming normal activity. Didn't know what to expect as far as healing and function after this accident, but I'm not even fully there and I can say for sure, my recovery in the hands of this team has been so fast and so encouraging. Always heard MedStar was the ortho center of excellence, definitely experienced it first-hand (ankle). Thank you again!

Dr. Hembree and Alex anticipated my questions and concerns and went out of their way to make sure I knew they were there for us. The way they interacted with my teenage son was wonderful - they engaged him as an adult. The services at Harbor Hospital clinic were easily accessible. There were appointments available for him to be seen the same day. On call doctors addressed my concerns on the weekend. My son received optimal care with this team.

“Dr. Hembree helped me to walk again”

I came to Dr. Hembree in August 2020 and I was frighten because I was not able to move my ankle properly and everything hurt. I myself thought I either had a bad sprain or I messed up my Achilles tendon in some way. From my initial visit Dr. Hembree wasted no time and figured out immediately that I tore my Achilles tendon and would need surgery immediately. However he did give me other options the consisted of just PT etc. but I opted to complete surgery and PT because that was a better choice for me. I was nervous about the whole ordeal but pleased with the outcome. Dr. Hembree helped me to walk again!!! I am still currently in the healing process for a total of a year, but I am fight the good fight and get better.
Alex his NP has been awesome from surgery room to every follow-up visit and given me confidence to keep at it. Alex let me know to take my time but also pushed me to keep doing my workouts and I will get better!
Thank you Dr. Hembree and Alex! You are GREAT!

“Excellent Overall Experience”

After breaking my ankle a year earlier I was quite concerned as I was not completely healing. I addition I was not able to schedule an appointment with my original orthopedic surgeon do to scheduling conflicts.After a bit of research I found Dr. Hembree and I must say that was the best decision I could have made. Upon our first meeting he immediately diagnosed the issue and schedule me for surgery to have the old hardware removed. I must say I am not a fan of surgery however the experience was night and day compared to my last. Upon waking from surgery I was not groggy or in any significant pain. Furthermore I must commend the entire staff as everyone was attentive and accommodating. Thanks again to the entire Harbor Memorial Team!

“AMAZING!!!!!!”

Dr. Hembree saved my foot. I tore my achilles tendon about a year ago, he was able to diagnose me and fix me up. My tendon had been infected and he did my surgery (After two previous surgeries with another doctor). My foot closed right up and it's only been uphill since I've seen him. He is an amazing doctor, he listens and cares about his patients. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you for saving my foot!

Dr. W. Hembree is an exceptional orthopedic surgeon I highly recommend. Dr. W. Hembree performed a triple arthrodesis on my right ankle that became deformed from SPMS. The success of surgery and recovery has given me a new lease on life with the ability to walk again. Dr. W. Hembree monitored each stage of my recovery with professionalism and diligence. “I could not be more pleased with the care I received.”

I had a pretty bad trimal fracture and was having a hard time finding a provider who was comfortable treating me. I hurt myself in a very embarrassing way and had many drs before Dr. Hembre talk to me with extreme concern and they chastised me for how I injured myself. It made me feel very worried. Dr. Hembree was extremely competent and had great bedside manner regarding the severity of my injury. I felt a sigh of relief after meeting with him because I knew he would be able to help me. He made sure that I had time to ask questions and answered them in a calm and kind manner. I am also extremely pleased with the outcome of my surgery. No complications, everything healed beautifully, and I can’t feel the hardware. I highly recommend that anyone in need of ankle care seek treatment from Dr. Hembree.

When I was seen by Dr. Hembree before surgery, I was told that I really did it good; meaning severe break in 3 places. I believe Dr. Hembree's skill made my recovery so much easier than I thought. Days before Thanksgiving and my birthday I broke my ankle in 3 places. While dealing with this painfully traumatic experience, Dr. Hembree and the entire MedStar Orthapedic staff at Union Memorial SAVED MY ANKLE and LIFTED MY SPIRITS.

I had been putting off getting bunion relainand a dislocated toe repair surgery for some time. I met Dr Hembree and Alex on my first visit and just liked the feeling I got after meeting with the 2 of them. I went ahead with my surgery in January 2020. My dislocated toe ended up being very stubborn about revascularizing itself so I spent the night post op. The sweet fellow or resident (I was feeling bad that first night I can’t remember which) had worked all day yet checked on my toe every hour all night long as Dr Hembree had told him to do. He would come in every hour, apologize for turning the light on and then inspect my toe. Dr Hembree stopped in to see me at 8pm before he left for the day that had started at 7am in pre op that morning. Then the next morning Dr Hembree came in and checked on me at 7 am before his day started. I was discharged on a Thursday and Dr Hembree called me over the weekend to check on me. I have never felt such a dr’s concern for my well being. Thank you❤️❤️

“I came in after a previous ankle fracture didn't heal properly. Dr. Hembree was able to promptly diagnose the issue and begin treatment. I have been seeing him ever since and its been smooth sailing.”

Dr. Hembree performed my first ever surgery. I was very nervous at first but him and his team have provided support, clearly explained everything and have made the process much more comfortable!

I felt really listened to, repsected, and cared for by everyone in Dr. Hembree's office. I broke my ankle in November, and everyone here was able to work with worker's comp to help me get surgery and accommodate my needs. I learned a lot from everyone on the team, and everyone was very helpful and kind. I met many times with Alex and Dr. Hembree, both of whom were professional and respectful. I would absolutely recommend anyone who has ankle or foot injuries go to this doctor's office.

“Excellent surgeon -- my total hip replacement surgery was 100% successful”

One year ago, Dr. Ring performed my total hip replacement surgery. The outcome could not have been better. Dr. Ring did everything perfectly to ensure successful results.
I found Dr. Ring when I was searching the Internet for surgeons in the Lancaster, PA area who use the anterior approach for total hip replacement. He is one of the few who have the training to use that approach. One of his colleagues described Dr. Ring as "meticulous" and that's why I chose him to do my surgery.
Fortunately, Dr. Ring was able to use the anterior approach for my surgery. I had almost no pain. Although higher-strength pain medicine was available if I needed it, I had to take only Advil during the recovery period. I progressed quickly from the walker to a cane and then to no assistance at all.
During my one-day stay in the hospital, my nurse said "We all like Dr. Ring." That says a lot!
