At Alaska Center for Ear, Nose and Throat (ACENT), our team of board-certified ENT specialists in Anchorage possesses the necessary training and experience to evaluate and diagnose a range of conditions and determine when surgery is appropriate. In most cases, we recommend surgery only after other more conservative treatments are unsuccessful.
Procedures offered: ear tubes, adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, sinus surgery, septoplasty, skin cancer treatment, sleep apnea surgery, thyroid surgery and BAHA and cochlear implants.

“The first time we have had real hope for my daughter's hearing in a a long time!”

My daughter has been in and out of doctor's offices and specialists offices since 6 months old. The procedures either failed immediately or shortly after. Our ENT referred us to Dr. Lorenz after she felt we had come to the end of the road as far as procedures to improve or repair the problems my daughter was having. At 13 she was very disappointed to find out that she would most likely need hearing aids. She was having trouble following conversation with friends and hearing her instructors. After her procedures with Dr. Lorenz she is hearing better than ever and did not even realize that all of these years she was not breathing properly or even smelling things. We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Lorenz and he is definitely our hero!

Dr. Lorenz was called in for my severe nose bleed (first - hopefully last one), and he has a great bedside manner it a stressful situation for a patient. When I arrived at the ER my nose bleed had already been going for a bout an hour, the on call doctor tried several things that just didn't work. He was great too, kept checked on my progress, etc. and then called in Dr. Lorenz. So, I was thankful for his pleasant personality and demeanor for a less than fun experience. Thank You!

“I broke my face!”

This was my first broken bone and first surgery. (I had 19 facial breaks due to a severe injury). Dr. Schaffer put me, and kept me, at ease frm the begining. He made the difficult diagnosis clear. I felt I had a lot of power in my own treatment, and was comfortable following his recommendations. The results from surgery are exactly what he predicted. They are all positive! Dr. Kowalski and his staff were friendly, attentive to my needs and concerns and barely made me wait in the waiting room at all. They were extremely flexible with my busy schedule and had great communication throughout the pre op and post op processes. I highly recommend ACENT for all your ear nose and throat needs! Dr. Lorenz is very good at cleaning my mastoid cavity out! I get a lot of wax build-up in my mastoid due to surgery where my ear canal was taken apart. He is very careful as to not cause pain and make me too dizzy. He also takes the time to talk about what he is doing and explaining what I need to do to follow-up. He is great! I recommend him to all of my students that I see that need an ENT consult in my educational audiology office!

After spending over a year going round and round with severe fungal ear infections I was finally referred to Dr. Lorenz at ACENT. On my very first appt he immediately recognized my issues and listened to my concerns. He asked what my end goal was and offered up a complete explanation as to surgical options as well as non-surgical. I have never had a doctor explain things so thoroughly in terms I could understand. I opted to go with the surgery and I regret nothing. My quality of life has improved immensly and I am grateful to the entire team at ACENT for the wonderful care I have received.
