surgical eye care to the Grand Strand and its surrounding area. Our ophthalmologists and optometrists diagnose and treat cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and many other eye diseases and conditions. This was my first time meeting Patricia. She had me go in to a room for an “OCP” diagnostic; I did not previously have this test, so was pleased she picked up on that fact and added it to my chart. Upon leaving, I booked my 6 month follow-up with Dr. Prinzi and they suggested that visit might obviate my need for my annual eye exam with Dr. McCaughey - not sure about this.

“Cataract surgery right eye at Bay Microsurgical”

I was referred to Dr Carl Sloan, by Dr Royal, for cataract surgery. Since I had had lasik surgery she highly recommended Dr Sloan and stated that he specializes in post lasik patients requiring cataract surgery. I am day one post op and the results are amazing! The surgery was done in Georgetown at Bay Microsurgical and the staff there was outstanding. Special shout out to nurse Mary Rose, such a caring, compassionate and excellent nurse, and expert at starting and IV!
I was so impressed with Dr Sloan I have scheduled surgery for the eye in a couple of weeks

Dr. Sloan and his staff were cheerful, fast and efficient. I particularly valued their commitment to medicine and their desire to provide emergency treatment for someone from out of town who they did not know, especially in the context of the current Covid 19 virus. Two other local ophthalmologists turned me down for appointments when we contacted them with symtoms of a scratched cornea. My eye is healing and I am feeling better. Thank God for Dr. Sloan and his group!

I was having difficulty with my vision . I thought it would be a simple matter of prescription change. That was hardly the case ! I was diagnosed with cataracts and glaucoma!

From the moment I arrived at Coastal Eye Group’s surgical facility in Georgetown, I was met by welcoming, efficient staff. All personnel explained the process and what to expect. The nurses were amazing, as they explained each step of the procedure along the way and what was to happen. I am a nurse myself and have high expectations of other health care professionals. They went beyond!! I appreciated it greatly, as I was nervous about the cataract removal. “5 Star Rating Can’t Imagine Myself Going To Anyone Else”

Went to Dr Carl Sloan for pressure and double vision in my eyes. He sent me to to Duke to get corrective surgery but told me we would watch the growth of my cataracts I didn’t know I had. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sloan for a number of years and have followed him to his Myrtle Beach office even though I reside in Murrells Inlet. I do have confidence in him as a doctor. When doctor Sloan told me my cataracts were at a point where they could be corrected, he advised me of choices/options. He did not push in any one direction. Months later when I made the decision, Dr. Sloan explained what the procedure was, lens options and pricing, asked if I had any questions, and told me he was available to answer any questions both prior to and after the surgery. After surgery on each eye he called that evening to see how I was doing and patiently addressed my paranoia! Follow up visits have been positive so shall we say a job well done!

Dr. Carl Sloan just completed cataract removal on my first eye; and, so far, I am totally satisfied with the entire surgical experience. From the beginning, I have felt a great deal of confidence in his knowledge of ophthalmology and in his surgical ability to perform the cataract removal and lens implant using the most modern and up-to-date techniques. I especially appreciated Dr. Sloan making the effort to personally contact me to check on my status as an immediate followup on the evening following surgery.
In addition, at least two of the surgical assistants (Erin and Jan) were not only extremely competent but personable as well, which was certainly helpful in easing my apprehension and in making the surgical experience less stressful.

Dr Sloan opened his office on Christmas Eve to see me at which time I wasn’t a patient of his to diagnose a detached retina. He immediately contacted a retinal surgeon and within 5 days I was in surgery. I am beyond words to describe his dedication and commitment but I am profoundly thankful to him. It says a lot about this man and doctor. I recovered and am now a regular patient of Dr Sloan.

Very pleasant experience.
I arrived at the surgery center at 7:15 and was immediately greeted and checked in. I was directed to the waiting room and was called back for surgery with a few minutes.
The nurses were extremely courteous and professional and I was prepared for surgery without delay. Dr Sloan performed the surgery and I was released to go home. The entire process took about 1 1/2 hours.
Later the evening of my surgery Dr Sloan called to check on me.
I would recommend Dr Carl Sloan and his Staff to everyone.
The followup the next morning was just as pleasant. Dr Sloan took the time to go over the results of my surgery and explained everything in a way that I could understand.

Dr Sloan has watched my eye progress very carefully and treated it as needed. When it was time to remove the cataract he also did a Hydrus procedure to reduce the tension in my eye. Dr. Sloan and his entire staff were at all times capable, professional, caring and efficient for my procedure. I have never personally experienced a medical experience like this one. Only problem I had today was on my arrival. A lot of us older folks have hearing issues. When assistant called for my appointment, from some 50 feet away,, she was actually calling for someone else and had someone else's chart. My identity was never verified. After administering first test, which may or may not have been required for me, another assistant came by to verify my identity. In the future I would appreciate if health care associates did not stand by door and call out name of next patient.
Other than that service provided was very courteous and professionally administered.

Have complete confidence in Dr. Sloan thus willing to travel vs seeing someone very locally. He relays your current or potential eye situation, showing your eye pictures, and is forthcoming and informative without seeming alarming. Very short wait. The staff keeps you moving with testing. They all seem to be on top of the pandemic situation with cleanliness in addition to all being upbeat and seem to work as a team. As nice an experience as a doctor appt. could be. Special mention regarding Samatha. She is a patient, good spirited soul and dealt with a nervous, older person (me) explaining her directives in a kind manner more than once for which I am grateful. Quite an asset!

“I feel I am cared for - not just a number!”

I totally respect Dr. Sloan’s expertise. Because I was an educator, I’m always asking questions, and Dr. Sloan has the patience of a saint, and answers them all. One time he took a picture with his phone to show me what he was seeing in the scope, and explained what he saw. A bright, caring doctor. I’m in good hands!

My experience with Dr Sloan and his staff met all my expectations. I was greatly concerned after being treated so poorly by the front office. After several attempts to set up an appointment and then being given the wrong email address I spoke to HR to get things resolved. I would recommend Dr Sloan to family and friends, however I would warn them to disregard the front staff. I am glad I pushed past my first impressions of this office and persevered to get to the outstanding service provided by the staff in the back. Thank you all.

“I went to Dr. Sloan with limited eyesight and after two weeks under his professional care, I can see clearly again. in.”

When I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes by my primary care physician, I thought I better have my eyes thoroughly checked by an ophthalmologist because my eyesight had decreased greatly over the past 8 months. When I called Coastal Eye Group and explained my situation, Dr. Sloan, took me in quickly since I had recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and my eyesight had decreased quickly.
My vision was checked the most thoroughly it had ever been. Thankfully, Dr. Sloan discovered I had cataracts in both eyes but no damage from diabetes.
After 2 eye surgeries, performed by Dr. Sloan, my eyesight is remarkable even without glasses. I am thoroughly pleased.

The Bay Microsurgery Unit in Georgetown is in a fabulously restored historical bldg & the staff & nurses there are the best of the best. You don’t have to travel to a big city eye institute, Dr Carl Sloan is right here in Myrtle Beach!

At my very first appointment I walked in with a very bleak outlook for my future vision. I was diagnosed with Acute Closed Angle Glaucoma back in December from my Optometrist. I already had cataracts and that I knew of. When I was a little girl my grandmother went blind in her last years. All I could think about was I was going to go blind too because they say Glaucoma cannot be cured and I had a rare kind of Glaucoma. Dr Carl Sloan gave me such relief that day discussing my test results, his findings and a treatment plan involving eye stents, removing the cataracts and new eye lenses that would assure me that I’d be good there after never having to worry about it again. He did both eyes one week apart and I am now recuperating. I couldn’t have found a better doctor. Thank you Dr. Sloan from the bottom of my heart. You gave me a reason to live life to the fullest again.

“I had a phenomenal experience once I got past the lady at the front desk. She had the manners of a steel worker. The nurse and the Dr. Were NOTHING less than spectacular. I would highly recommend tDr. McNaught.”
