“The BEST in the entire world”
Dr. Maizel is a doctor dream come true. You can not ask for a more knowledge, upfront and wonderful doctor. While sensitive to your feelings, he will give you the proverbial kick in the tush you need to do what is right to get healthy. Not only is he my favorite doctor in the world, he is like extended family. He deeply cares about his patients, their needs and treatment. He will do everything, and I mean everything to make sure you are as healthy as can be when dealing with GASTRO issues. Along with being a gastroenterologist, he also practices internal medicine so he really can get to the core of most issues himself. I hate doctors who love to refer to friends when they can really take care of it themselves. I don't have time to play 20 doctors so everyone can get a cut. He is not a sell out to insurance so it won't happen unless it's absolutely NECESSARY, his practice is homey and you feel at ease when you walk in the door. My only warning is if you want to hear the hearts and fairytales, find another doctor. He is a straight shooter who tells it like it is and doesn't Daly around an issue. He will grumble at you and give you a sharp sting of the tongue if you have not listened to his advice or taken care of yourself...but when it comes, you know deep inside that you deserve it because he only does it when you are actively doing something to make your condition worse or putting yourself in danger. I've been on that end and I know he does it for my own good so I am healthy and safe. Plus, his wife Laura is there to give you a cookie or a hug once you learn your lesson. Love love love her too! I adore him so much as a doctor, I often threaten to chain myself to the door if he was to ever utter the word retirement. You don't see many real doctors and he is one SO if you want someone who is going to be real with you, see him. If you want the greys anatomy version, it's not here. It's a hundred times better on this side of reality. He literally saved my life more than once and I salute him and am proud to be his patient.
