“Brillant!”
Our daughter has a seizure disorder and when they got increasingly worse this year, we were told that surgery was our next option and Dr. Olaya was referred to us. Before we ever met him, I called his office and asked for a "bio" on him since I couldn't find much information about his experience online. Instead of emailing this information, Dr. Olaya himself called our home on a Friday evening to answer our questions regarding his expertise. I was impressed right then! He didn't make us feel rushed and was incredibly sympathetic to our fears and worries. Once we actually met him in person, our daughter (11 years old) thought he was very kind and we were very pleased with his knowledge in regards to her specific disease (Sturge Weber Syndrome) and the surgical plan. 6 days later, on June 19, 2014, she was in surgery for 7 hours at CHOC. Dr. Michael Muhonen assisted Dr. Olaya in the procedure. When the surgery was over, Dr. Olaya came out to tell us how the surgery went, what they did, and how she was doing. He was thorough in the details and again, we didn't feel like he rushed off - even though he was probably tired after performing a long surgery. We are almost at 3 months post surgery now, and our daughter is doing GREAT! We are grateful that Dr. Olaya was on our team and indebted to him for making our girl seizure free! I am very confident in him and would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Olaya to anyone who is needing a neurosurgeon. He's the BEST!
