My training was always to further enrich the knowledge base I use to be at the service of others. The old fashion premise of being a doctor was to teach patients how to end suffering. The current model of healthcare has altered the doctor-patient relationship in ways where doctors don’t have time to teach and patients don’t trust the prescriptions given by the docs. I’ve been on the receiving end of this while waiting for a cardiologist to evaluate my daughter. He walked in, looked at her ekg heart tracing and said “its normal your okay” then walked out leaving his nurse to educate on lifestyle change. Insurance has morphed the office experience and I will not allow that to dictate the way I design a personal plan for ending suffering.
