“Don't worry”

I was absolutely convinced that this procedure was going to be the most painful one that I have ever had. I had a cracked molar all the way down to the root and let me tell you it hurt. Once it was removed there was absolutely no pain or discomfort at all. Why did I not get it removed sooner, because I was a big wimp. Dont be a wimp let these PRO's do their job and relieve your pain and discomfort.

Double Implants (Molars) - was concerned having heard implant horror stories - none of which happened. Procedure was smooth and professional, minimal pain afterwords. Dr. Iyer took the time from initial exam to final to make sure this was the correct path. I would recommend her to anybody considering this procedure.

“My wisdom teeth removal went very smoothly!”

From start to finish, MOSA made the experience of getting my teeth removed as easy as possible. The people at the front desk are very friendly and answer all of your questions. Dr. Iyer also takes the time to listen to any questions you have, and gives full answers. For the surgery, I used local anesthesia, and even with being awake during the surgery, it seemed to go by very quickly and expertly. Overall this was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend Dr. Iyer!

“Wisdom Tooth Extraction”

My experience with MOSA has been excellent. From the start trying to find an oral surgeon for my 4 wisdom teeth to be extracted I had read a lot into reviews of various places. The great reviews at MOSA of course led me here. My experience was great pre-op and post-op and my recovery was much better than I had expected. The two lower teeth were impacted and the uppers were grown through the gums and the next day after surgery I had no pain and very minimal swelling.

No particular worries except there was significantly more pain associated with the extraction than I had previously experienced with an earlier implant prep procedure. I don't know how much anesthetic is appropriate or that I received, but on a 1-10 scale I would rate the pain at 14, barely bearable. This was not at all my first experience, during which I felt activity but very little pain. In any further like extraction I would opt for general anesthetic rather than risking this kind of pain.

I always felt I was in "excellent hands". Doctor Iyer is such a great professional with an amazing approach to make patients feel comfortable and well informed. After extraction, the office called me twice.
The only minor issue is that I usually have to wait no less than 15 minutes. But this is a real minor compared with the fantastic service I received.

Had all my wisdom teeth removed. I expected it to be painful both during and after surgery based on prior stories. Surprisingly, the operation lasted shorter than I expected. No pain at all. I followed the Malini's instructions on how to take care of my woods and healed pretty fast, on the second day I was already feeling better. This was much much better than I had expected.

Getting wisdom teeth removed at 57 left me a bit nervous, but my experience with Dr. Iyer at Maryland Oral Surgery Associates was very reassuring. The surgery went well and the recovery was much quicker and easier than I expected. I had no problems post surgery and was eating regularly within four days.

I had the most pleasant experience I could have ever imagined. I had been holding off getting my wisdom teeth removed just because of the idea of having any extractions scares me, but when I say pleasant I mean overall outstanding beats all expectations. Dr/DDS Iyer came highly recommended by my longtime dc area dentist. My dentist said I should try to meet an oral surgeon sooner rather than later to examine my teeth, and luckily I was able to get a consultation with Dr Iyer fairly quickly. The consult went well, she listened well and clearly answered any questions after explaining her recommendation to have the wisdom teeth removed soon. I felt comfortable with Dr Iyer and proceeded with the operation, which went well, and her staff was good.

I saw Dr. Malini Iyer for wisdom teeth extraction. Because I have a heart condition, I opted to stay awake for the procedure and just have local anesthesia. I was very anxious at first, but Dr. Iyer was patient and she took the time to speak with me calmly. The procedure also went pretty quickly.

Two out of three visits required a waiting time of almost 1 hour. When the actual appointments took 30 minutes or less, a 1-hour waiting time can seem a bit much. Otherwise, Dr. Iyer was professional and friendly, and the overall experience was great.

“Administration Needs Fixed. Would recommend getting more staff for calls”

Please know this has NOTHING to do with Dr.Iyer. While there are some admin staff here who are kind and respectful, just getting someone on the phone and get back to you is like pulling teeth (slowly and painfully). Booking the consultation was annoying for the hold time and the appt I had in Silver Spring dropped the week before with no explanation. However, that was not the worse, which was calling for what I would owe. It took almost THREE WEEKS to get a finalize cost of how much I owed from the office. I was told it would be done in several days, I called and went to voicemail. I left a message and never heard back. I called every several days and I'd either get : an average of 20 minutes on hold-longest hold was 40 minutes, a date in which I should hear back from Natalie or Amy and I would not hear anything back, or voicemails that never got called back. I had calling issues before surgery day too. I could say more if this survey didn't have a limit.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Iyer for extraction of my 4 wisdom teeth. Before i visited MOSA, my mouth looked like a crowded bus! Dr. Iyer and her staff explained the process and performed the procedure with expert knowledge taking the time to answer my questions before and after. During the extraction Dr. Iyer explained what she was doing and got me in and out of the chair. Additionally, her front desk staff were patient and kind and ensured that an error occurring with my insurance was addressed. In conclusion, i would highly recommend MOSA, Bethesda and will be coming back in the future if needed.

Dr Iyler made my decision and procedure as painless as possible. I liked that I was able to get my issues resolved very timely. One big down side was the amount of time you have to wait for your appointment - schedule appointments further apart if you cannot see your patients when they are scheduled. We appreciate that you value time, you should also value your patients' time.

The expectations were clear however I did have some issues at first because I had a cold. I think patients should be informed of the complications of having a cough and anesthesia because of the current season we are in. Pain meds probably should have been prescribed right after tooth removal. Not doing so interfered with the ability to apply pressure on the gum to reduce bleeding. Later Dr. Iyer did provide a prescription that evening which did help reducing pain and aided in healing.

We were referred to Dr. Iyer by my son's General Dentist, due to a wisdom tooth. My son is autistic, with limited expressive ability, so by the time we realized he was in pain his tooth had gotten infected. Dr. Iyer saw him and quickly scheduled an appointment to extract the tooth. She managed his pain and infection well both before and after the extraction. He behaved so well for her. He was in and out in about 20 minutes with a local anestheetic. His tooth healed great in about a week. He had very little pain or bleeding after the surgery. We really appreciate the way she treated our son. We would definitely recommend her to our friends and acquaintances.

During the consult, Malini was very thorough and not only checked my x-rays and teeth to be removed, but also examined my medical history. I came into my wisdom teeth removal appointment extremely terrified. Before I was knocked out, I was really scared and thought that it was going to be painful, but Dr.Iyer and the rest of the staff were very kind and talked to me as I fell asleep. I appreciate how friendly and outgoing they were. The procedure went well and I healed pretty good. The only thing I would suggest to Dr.Iyer is perhaps trying to talk a little bit slower, not too fast. Other than that everything was great.

I originally came to doctor Iyer about 1 year ago for extractions and to begin process for dental implants. From the beginning, she impressed me with the carefulness she took given that I have a very small mouth, and she chooses instruments to help minimize any discomfort for me during my my visits.

“Excellent Care and Attention to Detail”

Dr. Iyer was exceptionally gentle and very accurate in the process of my Wisdom Teeth removal surgery. Since this was my first Oral Surgery, I was a bit one edge of the whole process. However, Dr. Iyer explained everything and took the liberty to walk me through the entire process before she began the surgery. I felt a ease knowing that I could trust her to care for my dental needs. After the surgery, Dr. Iyer inspected my teeth and asked me if I had any pain. I am pleased to say no pain.

“Excellent professional work, wonderful support and communication.”

I was very impressed with the positive and helpful nature of every aspect of the operation, both before and after. There were no side effects, and I was well prepared and informed just in case there were. The recovery went very smooth. I was almost not even aware that I was in surgery. The written information on the pamphlet was thorough and walked me through all the stages of preparation and recovery. I had no questions and no surprises. Dr. Iyer's team was very caring and professional.

I really appreciate being in Dr. Iyer's care for my dental issue. I recently returned to the area and did not have a regular dentist, but knew I needed to see an oral surgeon. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Iyer in my internet search. Her office (all very helpful and friendly) set up my consultation appointment for the same day, and the surgery (tooth extraction) was done the next morning. Dr Iyer and her staff are just the best! I had an infected tooth. My Mother was in ICU in S.C., I need to go to her as quickly as possible. Dr. Iyer fit me in her schedule and with precision and care painlessly extracted my infected tooth. I was then able to make the journey to see my Mother. I also healed rapidly!

“Great Dentist Who Knew What She Was Doing (Experienced)”

When I first met with her she had a very soft voice and guided me diligently through my wisdom teeth operation. However, upon noticing my heart rate was rather low to be put under local anesthesia, she worried I would have cardiac arrest under it and insisted I go to the hospital to continue my operation. Though this interfered with my schedule and made the operation 6 months later, I'm glad she didn't cut any corners and was always concerned with my safety and well-being.

“Quick but Accurate”

Had gotten 3 wisdom teeth pulled. Was told I had an extra set up top and was given information regarding this issue. Was directed and was followed up on what my next steps would consist of. The procedure only last 45 mins and a phone call was done to check up on me later that day. She followed up with me and explain how the healing process was coming and what my next steps should consist of, for the other side of my mouth. I will be back soon and want only Malini Iyer.

I've put off getting my wisdom teeth out for years due to dentist anxiety, but pain set me to Dr. Iyer. The whole process was so much less traumatic than I expected. Was scheduled for surgery less than a week from initial appointment. Procedure was relatively quick, recovery pain minimal. My entire experience, from initial consult, through the procedure, and into the follow-up has been extremely positive. This was my first major surgical procedure of any kind, but Dr. Iyer was extremely confident, and at no point did I feel concerned about whether my procedure would be done properly (she even gave me some extra time to calm down prior to the surgery after I started getting a little grey from the IV insertion).

Overall, I can't imagine having a better experience thus far.

no one wants to have a tooth pulled, but i had an infected cracked molar that had to be gone. not what anyone would want to hear, but the procedure went well. my only comment is that I should have been told that i would need someone to drive me home and help me out for the first 24 hours.

“Wonderful experience...for oral surgery”

Dr. Iyer removed my tooth and installed the implant in what can only be described as virtually pain free, other than the novacaine injections. i did not need to take any pain meds, had very little swelling ( nothing noticeable and no discloration. I highly recommend this skilled and gentle oral surgeon.

Dr. Iyer is incredibly friendly, down to earth, easy to talk to, and overall a great dentist. While I was nervous for the procedure, she talked me through it with topics to get my mind off of it. I felt as ease with her when getting an appointment with the office was stressful. She was informative and answered all of my questions that I had. The only con is that I wished that I knew about the cleaning syringe sooner than the week after appt. I know it's practice with the office, but my mom (the person who helped me throughout my procedure) and I were told I could have soft foods after the procedure. However, even those foods were getting stuck in the sockets and, at one point a few days after the surgery, got stuck. Thankfully, we found a baby dropper to flush the food out. If I had the syringe, I felt like I would have been more prepared.

This is never a fun thing to do but Dr. Iver performed the procedure quickly. I was in & out of office in under 2 hours. The pain wasn't what I expected- just tremendous discomfort.
I was scheduled for a later date but one of the wisdom teeth cracked & beginning to be painful. Somehow they found a way to get me on the schedule the next day & do the entire procedure to get all four of them, I am extremely happy with everything.

Dr Iyer is qualified, direct, and personable. I am pleased with my treatment and interactions with Dr Iyer.

Some additional attention to details regarding the patient's at home directions could improve. The antibiotic and ibuprofen prescriptions were directed to be taken every 6 hours and every 8 hours, respectively. With a busy work and home life, it became difficult to take these medicines at different intervals. Perhaps prescribing patients medicine with the same intervals would help patients at home manage their care better. Also, I was given pre-operation direction to take the antibiotic starting the day before and also to not each or drink from midnight the night before surgery. Those two direction are not possible to achieve simultaneously. Clear direction that does not conflict with other direction would really help patients.

I came in to deal with excess scar tissue on my tongue from an inadvertently deep wound (accidentally took a power bite while eating cajun wings). I was scheduled for surgery, properly educated on the procedure and the precautionary steps that would be taken along with it. Each step and next action was preformed with the utmost concern and expert care. My followup did involve a little bit of extra waiting room time, mostly due to the time of day and the nature of the type of practice, but once I was in with the doctor she was quick but thorough in her examination and explanation of the pathology report. Additionally, she did not make me feel rushed in any way, she allowed time for any additional questions and concerns that I had, listened and responded politely and candidly. I felt that I was well treated on every level and I would recommend her to anyone that needed an oral surgeon.

The doctor is fine, but the administrative office and wait time is ridiculous and needs improvement. I was not sent the link to the paper work via text as I was told I would. She (receptionist) only sent it when I actually got to the office and told her I never got the text. The wait has been 45 minutes long for a 5 minute appointment. When I tried to make the appointment initially, no one answered and I left a voicemail and no one called back. The doctor is good but could take a bit more time to explain things.

“Everything went very smoothly”

Hours before my surgery, I had mistakenly drank a glass of water. I was scheduled to be put under anesthesia via IV and drinking anything 8 hours before surgery can pose a serious risk when sedated. After communicating my mistake to the doctor, she was very understanding and was willing to work with other options besides a full anesthesia. I opted to do lidocaine and laughing gas. Dr. Malini talked me through the process, let me listen to music (since I was fully awake and it would help me take my mind off the fact they were pulling my teeth), and completed the procure in under 45 min. She was very quick, thorough, and professional. I highly recommend her for future patients.

I have no complaints about the expertise of Dr. Iyer. The aggravating part of my experience had to do with two cancellations of my surgery. One was a family emergency which I understand. The other was cancellation because material for the surgery wouldn't arrive in time. That is an administrative problem.

I have nothing but good things to say about doctor Malini Iyer and the MOSA practice. The wisdom teeth extraction was quick easy and painless. Everyone was helpful and friendly and it was apparent that they care about their patients. I received a check up call from doctor Iyer personally to ensure that I was in good shape the night after the surgery. The follow up appointment was quick and easy. I mentioned that I started having migraines suddenly, for the first time, right after surgery and she said that it is not related and probably another issue. I have never had this before. It feels nothing like a regular headache, even a bad one. I am not sure what to take from this since it only developed in the past week.

Dr. Iyer did a tooth extraction and posted an implant in my jaw. In both instances she made sure that pain was kept to a minimum. She is careful and thorough in all stages of treatment. Her instructions after the surgery insured that there have been no complications, infection, excessive pain or bleeding.

“I always felt that Dr. Iyer was an excellent practitioner, empathetic, incredibly patient with respect to explaining the procedures and answering all questions.”

My experience was quite positive.

The only thing that was troublesome was the number of mandatory procedures that our dental plan did not cover, such as three-d x-rays and graft, which increased my cost considerably. I am not questioning whether these procedures were necessary, but i think it would be good for these additional costs to be explained to the patient ahead of time (not just given a phone call to say what the net amount of the payment would be). Also, your explanation of payment responsibility, including a rather high interest rate, is a poor introduction to the practice.

But despite the above, my experience with Dr. Iyer and everyone else was very positive and i thought Dr. Iyer and her staff were amazing. l would highly recommend them.
