“I have had wonderful treatment with Dr. Mathis for my nosebleeds.”

I have the illness HHT which causes my nose to hemmorage uncontrollably. Dr. Mathis has performed many lifesaving treatments in the office and the hospital in a calm, professional way. There is no cure to this illness, yet he has helped me by his excellent treatment and always in a timely fashion so that I have not bled out. I am very thankful to him and Dr. Dooley (retired). I have seen them for 30 years and have led a normal life with this illness. Many doctors would not even treat me, however, Dr. Mathis has shown respect for me and my family in his treatment. I highly reccommend him to anyone. He is very intelligent, has a good bedside manner and is calm in high stress situations.

“Trustworthy Doctor!”

I haven't even seen Dr. Mathis for a year yet, but completely trust him and the decisions he makes for me, his patient. When I first came to see him, I had a really bad sinus infection. We tried multiple courses of antibiotics, but eventually needed surgery. He did four different procedures in one day, and was concerned about my post-op pain. The day that I came to get my splints out, he opened the office just for me. I drive 220 miles just to see the Doctor, and I will gladly continue.

“Dr. Zamboni is always personable and thorough.”

While Dr. Zamboni is always personable, informative, and thorough, the wait time is excessive. Each appointment I have waited approximately 45 minutes in the waiting room, then an additional 10-15 minutes in the exam room. This is extremely difficult with work and feels a little disrespectful of my time. I make a point to be on time or early for the appointment and would appreciate the same courtesy.
I also had an issue with the nursing staff recently. I called to refill a prescription following a fairly intensive surgical procedure. I was four days post-op, and the nurse treated me as if I had been abusing my pain medication. She asked how much I had really been taking and said if I was lucky someone would fill the prescription for me as Dr. Zamboni was not in that day. She also pointed out, rudely, that I should have filled my prescription when I had my splints taken out a few days before. I was in a lot of pain and did not appreciate being treated that way.

“Sinus surgery? Piece of cake. Seriously, I've had colds worse than this recovery. Dr. Meier is great.”

I was skeptical when Dr. Meier ordered a sinus CT scan prior to seeing me. In retrospect, it was exactly the right thing, diagnosing polys and chronic sinusitis, with a nearly pain-free surgical remedy. He set proper expectations for surgery and recovery, and treatment has gone exactly as planned. 24 hours after surgery, I was essentially pain free and stopped taking pain meds. One week post-surgery, I am breathing and sleeping better than before the surgery. Thanks, Dr. Meier, for great care and follow-up.

Dr. Meier is a forward thinking practitioner willing to listen to my issues and provide guidance and options. I had sinus surgery about 22 years ago and really needed to repeat the procedure. I was reluctant because my first experience convinced me to never have that surgery again. I was miserable in recovery! But, Dr. Meier assured me that new techniques made the process a very different experience. I finally agreed out of desperation and constant sinus infections. He was completely accurate! 20+ years made a huge difference and my results have been excellent.

Dr. Meier is friendly and caring. He listens when you converse with him and he remembers what you tell him for future visits. He provided me with several options and also discussed with me the option of not having surgery. He didn't pressure me into surgery and helped me come to the most informed and best decision for my medical needs. He explained what I could realistically expect to get out of surgery and what to expect post-op and many years after surgery. Dr. Meier made my surgical experience pleasant. I am very pleased with him.

“Dr. Meier cured my lifelong runny nose problem!”

Growing up in Massachusetts, my nose has been running in the cold weather for as long as I can remember. And I'm old!!! Same thing has happened living in Reno for the past 25 years. I happened to read an article that Dr. Meier had written for the DelWebb community newspaper where he pinpointed my problem. I made an appointment with him at NV ENT. “I recommend Dr. Meier”

After going to several other ENT's in the Reno area Dr. Meier took the time to understand what my issues were and actually resolved them unlike the other ENT's.
Resolving them involved sinus surgery, which based on a prior sinus surgery struck fear deep in my soul. My surgery experience this time was a completely different experience than the first time. I experienced none of the things with this surgery that made the first surgery such a miserable experience.

“Sinus Surgery Results”

Dr Josh Meir was recommended to me by your now retired Dr Dooley (another amazing ENT).
Dr Dooley was so correct Dr Meier has a wonderful bedside manner and is an incredible surgeon.
Dr Meier under promised and over delivered clearing a nasal blockage, clearing my two lower sinus' and repairing a deviated septum. I had no pain without using any medication not even Tylenol. Complete healing took about two weeks and some bleeding the first week but there was never any pain involved.

Having had surgery in the late 90's for nasal polyps, my experience with Dr. Meier was 180 degrees the opposite of my first surgery elsewhere. He really understood my medical situation. The surgery was amazing! He did not use packing in my nose post-surgery and I could immediately following surgery, breathe and my sense of smell returned.

“Great sinus surgery”

I have had 2 previous sinus surgeries in 1987 and 1995 and still continued to have issues. I was very skeptic about having another surgery. Dr, Meier said he does things differently so I decided to go for it. He said that he didn't pack the sinus after surgery. I continually had facial pain on my left side and headaches and nothing helped. I had the surgery on 9/15 and the difference is amazing. I have not had any facial pain and best of all with not packing the sinus afterwards I was able to rinse the next day. Being able to rinse so much was the saving grace. On my other two surgeries I had to meet my previous Doctor at the hospital to get the blockages cleared. Not this time, I was able to clear everything by being faithful doing the 5 rinses a day. I was supposed to be off work for 8 days and I had to call and plead with the doctors staff to release me to go back the following Monday 4 days early. I feel wonderful, tired but wonderful. My post op appointment was so good he did not have to do anything further cleaning out. Thank you so much Dr. Meier, you are my hero.

“30 year problem, one hour resolution”

20 years following military surgery and 15 years with va. multiple docs have said my problem could not be resolved. Dr. Van Duyne saw me for 20 minutes. “Took me seriously”

Most Dr's dismiss me by how I look and act on the outside. Dr. Mathis began to think that but then kept going when I said how much pain i was having. He ordered tests that confirmed what I have been saying (for years to others). I had no movement in my sinuses. After surgery I can breath through my nose and even do sinus rinses that come out the other nostril. This has never happened in my entire life. Thank you. Now to fix my ear completely.

Before I saw Dr. Meier I would have on average 5-6 Sinus Infections a year and had trouble breathing. After he performed sinus surgery 2 years ago, I have not had a single sinus infection at all and I can breathe much better. I was referred to Dr. Meier for breathing and dizziness issues. After an evaluation and choices I was given, I choose to have sinus surgery. Best decision I ever made. I didn't know how bad my breathing was until after the surgery! I was surprised that the pain was not too bad after the surgery and the recovery was quick. “Benign Inverted Papalloma Tumor surgical removal”

Although, I was very nervous anticipating this upcoming surgery, Dr Meier and hospital staff kept me comfortable. After my 4 1/2 hour surgery, I recovered with some pain, however, when Dr. Meier checked in on me, he asked how my breathing was and I realized that after at least a couple of years, I could finally get air through my left nostril. To me, this was like a miracle and all follow-ups with Dr. Meier have good with no sign of reqrowth of the tumor. Thank you Dr. Meier and his kind staff at Nevada ENT.

I have been having repeated sinus infections for years and trouble with drainage, too many prescribed for infections etc. I did not know what to do next, but when I came to Meir he figured out my problem right away. It took me a while to be convinced to get surgery, though when I got it I was so glad I did. I wish I had done it the first time he suggested it to me. Meir is fabulous!I got my adenoids removed, a septoplasty, and other sinus corrections and was not in much pain.

Dr. Meier was hesitant to go straight to surgery and so we decided to give my son some more time to see how his sleeping and breathing would go. I appreciate that Dr. Meier was not quick to decide on surgery but we decided together what was best for my son. About a year later we decided that surgery would be best for him to remove his tonsils. The surgery went well and my son's recovery was quick and relatively easy. Dr. Meier was great to work with and took good care of my son.

“Sinus blockage removal”

Dr. Meier explained exactly what needed to be done and gave me all of the options and explained pro's and con's for everything. He took the them to answer all of my questions and gave thorough answers. He was able to remove a massive obstruction that had formed around a BB that I was shot with 35 years ago. There were no complications after my surgery and Dr. Meier personally followed up with me several times after surgery to make sure I was OK. I would absolutely recommend him as a surgeon.

“Fabulous”

Dr. Meier is a wonderful doctor and surgeon. I have had prior nasal surgeries in the past and was a little leery about my upcoming sinus surgery....Im here to tell you that this was the least invasive procedure i have ever had done. Even having stitches on a bad cut is worse than this surgery. I could hardly tell that I had anything done. Very impressive.

“An excellent experience all the way through”

I came in to see Dr. Meier originally for a constant cough that no other doctor could diagnose. Dr. Meier found that I had a deviated septum in addition to suffering acid reflux. I opted for surgery to fix the deviated septum. Dr. Meier was great through the whole process. I felt no pain or discomfort after the procedure and didn't even need pain meds. I can no breath through my nose without effort, can clear my sinus passages and sleep extremely well. The entire process was great!

“I can breathe!!! :)”

Dr. Meier is fantastic! I had polyps in my sinuses and they almost completely blocked my nose. I have a rare disease and he has been in constant contact with my other doctor to keep me on track. He explained everything so I knew what to expect. He is friendly and very knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable with him. Now that the surgery is over, I feel so much better and I can finally breathe through my nose! SO happy! He has also called me after surgery to make sure I was doing well. I would recommend him to anyone.

I have had one surgery to fix a deveated septum before that left me immoble for three days. Now, this surgery will leave you with the ability to breath and smell the same day! Dr. Meier said this would be different and he was right.

“Successful Sinus Surgery”

I had a history of sinus infections, and at the time I came to see Dr. Meier my infection had become chronic. I had an infection that had persisted, to some degree, for about four months. I was a bit of a sinus surgery skeptic, based on the experiences of friends who had experienced only minor improvements as a result of their surgeries or who had to have multiple surgeries to get meaningful results. However, I was somewhat desperate, as my health was really suffering from my sinus condition. I developed a trust in Dr. Meier, opted for surgery, and have not regretted it. Since surgery there have been multiple occasions when I was certain I was getting a sinus infection, based on past experience, but none of the episodes have resulted in infections. My sinuses are functioning better than ever, my overall health has improved, and I even have fewer problems related to my environmental allergies.

I had my first sinus surgery done over 25 years ago and swore that I would never go thru that again. I would breath thru my mouth if I ever needed it again. Over the past 10 years I thought I was getting really bad allergies. I was doing anything and everything to help my allergies. I was taking 2/3 allergy pills per day. My primary dr suggested that I go see an ENT dr. so I came and Dr. Meier's informed me that I needed the surgery. I had the surgery. Wow, I was amazed that I had no pain at all. I didn't take any pain pills after the surgery. I just finished my follow up visit and Dr. Meier's cleaned out everything. Felt a little pressure, but nothing compared to having the packing removed. I am sooooo happy that Dr. Meier's talked me into doing this surgery. After less then a week, I am breathing perfect out of my nose! Amazing!

“Great Experience”

It was determined that I needed sinus surgery again. My last surgery was about 20yrs ago and it was a very painful and traumatic. I actually said I would never have another sinus surgery again even if I really needed one. When Dr Meier said I needed one now I went into a huge panic. He explained that things have changed in 20 years and it wouldn't be that bad. Even though I was very nervous I did have the surgery and Dr Meier was right. The entire experience was excellent. No post operation pain at all and a easy recovery.

Dr was informative and caring from the outset. I had some trepidation about the procedure and he was very up front and honest about all of the possibilities and outcomes.

The surgical procedure went well and it was all that I was told to expect.

After incurring a traumatic facial injury by a motor vehicle, I was obviously full of concern and questions. My initial meeting with Dr. Van Duyne in the hospital was positive.
