The Center for Healthy Living specializes in helping you achieve your health and well-being goals. Our team is specifically trained to offer personalized care in a positive and inspiring environment. We use Lifestyle and Integrative Medicine to help you restore and maintain your health. As Lifestyle and Integrative Medicine providers, we do not replace your primary care physician; instead, we work closely with your doctor to help you achieve your goals. Just as your primary care provider would refer you to an orthopedic specialist for knee surgery, they may refer you to us for support with lifestyle changes that can greatly improve your health or quality of life. Our goal is to improve our patients’ quality of life, minimize or prevent chronic disease, and support a healthy lifestyle. We focus on making the healthy choice the easy choice. Our professional team will help you make adjustments to your lifestyle. We may also prescribe medications or recommend supplements to help you get where you want to be.

Our most popular services include weight management counseling, tobacco treatment, alcohol use modification, chronic disease management through lifestyle modifications, and occupational health exams. Whether clinically referred by your provider or driven by a general desire for lifestyle and health changes, the Center for Healthy Living can help you:

  • Improve your nutritional habits

  • Develop a safe exercise plan

  • Quit smoking or vaping—for good

  • Cope with stress and other emotional concerns

  • Experience better sleep

  • Modify your drinking habits

  • Learn how to manage a newly diagnosed chronic disease

  • Focus on what brings you joy

  • Complete pre-employment physical requirements, including CDL and Captain’s License Physicals

Whole health is an approach to healthcare that combines self-care, professional care, and community to empower you to take charge of your health. Here at The Center for Healthy Living, we’ll work to inspire you to integrate the components of whole health that will help you achieve your goals.

Weight Management Counseling

What we put in our bodies has a profound impact on our livelihood. Nutrition influences every aspect of our lives, providing the essential fuel our bodies need for growth, energy, and healing. At The Center for Healthy Living, our registered dietician offers clear and straightforward guidance on a wide array of delicious and nutritious foods. These recommendations are designed to help you feel better, recover more quickly, increase your energy levels, and achieve weight loss, gain, or maintenance goals.

Tobacco Cessation Program

Have you considered quitting tobacco? It’s the best health decision you can make. Outer Banks Health’s Center for Healthy living offers a tobacco cessation program that is evidenced-based and designed to assist you in reducing or quitting your smoking habit.

Gray-area Drinking

Gray-area drinking encompasses individuals who may not display signs of alcohol use disorder (AUD) or meet the criteria for AUD. However, they may exhibit habits of excessive alcohol consumption in social settings or alone, which can lead to various health issues such as weight gain, sleep problems, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, anxiety, or depression. Gray-area drinkers may use alcohol as a means to manage anxiety, only to later regret the amount and frequency of their drinking.

Our certified gray-area drinking coach helps in modifying and reducing alcohol consumption or quitting altogether. Let us show you how our evidence-based approach can bring you success in controlling your drinking habits.
