Overall, a good experience - Dr. Ahmed comes across as sympathetic, knowledgeable, and caring. The only reason I took off a star for trust in decision making is that this practice in general has an experimental feel, which probably reflects more on the newness of the field than her skill as a doctor.

The only note I'd give is that she could consider the way she delivers information more. For example, when delivering the results of an MRI say "Your results came out clean, even though there is always a risk of an impingement", rather than "There is always a risk of an impingement, but your results came out clean."

The pelvic exam was thorough and what I learned from the doctor about the importance of the actual condition of the pelvis muscles (tight, not tight, in-between) was so helpful for the follow-up work with the pelvic therapist---and for my own exercising at home. While I didn't need a lot of the therapies usually prescribed for pelvic pain sufferers, it was great to be educated on the range of possible therapies for this debilitating

I have been experiencing levator ani pan for over 30 years. I have been to over 5 doctors but it was only diagnosed 5 years ago. I had numerous treatments, including botox and valium and physical therapy.
I found Dr Ahmed through a GOOGLE search. I live 30 minutes away from her office but she is the only doctor who specializes in pelvic floor disorder on Long Island. She understood, completely my symptoms, and has a 6 week program for me and I am starting to be spasm free!
