“The worst doctor experience I have ever had.”
My PCP had me go to Avista Hospital in Louisville as I was having increased symptoms due to C diff. She wanted me admitted to give my colon/bowels a "rest". After the ER staff talked to my PCP they agreed and I was admitted. Eric Vanzura ended up being the physician that treated me after I was admitted. I was told when they admitted me from the ER that my doctor would be in to see me shortly. That was around 4 pm, I didn't see him until 8:00pm or 8:30. The nurses contacted him multiple times. When he came in he started off by telling me my PCP was an idiot. My doctor sent me there to be admitted for a bowel rest due to C diff. Which means no food and/or no liquid for a few days and I was to be put on an IV. The staff in the ER seemed to agree with my PCP. When giving him a brief history of how I was told I contracted C diff he called me a liar. He also said it a few more times taking my medical history, and also said no of this made sense to him. He complained that he could not get my doctor on the phone. When the nurse came in two separate times to tell him the on call physician was on the phone he through the paper on the floor and said they could £%#$ing wait. He swore in front of me a few times. He told me I did not have C diff even though I had two positive tests 3 weeks apart. He said it was my IBS. He also said I should not be there. When I told him he could send me home he ignored my comment, that happened twice. He told me multiple times that my medical history made no sense and accused me of lying again. Also after telling me I should not be there I was upgraded to an isolation room, per his request.? He also blamed all my symptoms on IBS, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome even though it was way outside my normal symptoms for any of those, and I had two positive C diff test. He also commented that the ER staff were a bunch of idiots, and I found them to be pretty helpful. He also brought up 2 or 3 times "how do I know your not just making this all up?" He also pressured me into giving him 3 of the doctors, who have treated me or are currently treating me, phone numbers. When they finally came to give me meds there was only one they gave me that the doctor had discussed with me. There were no pain or C diff meds given to me. One of the meds he prescribed the nurse said if it was her she would not take it, so I didn't. When I asked for the third time when I was getting C diff meds or pain meds she contacted Eric Vanzura, the doctor, he told the nurse he had prof I never had c diff. I am also allergic to apples which I did tell them about. When they brought one of the meds they mixed it in apple juice!?! The doctors aggressive and offensive questioning and statements didn't relent until I was in tears. When I asked to be released, after finding out they were doing nothing related to why my doctor wanted me admitted for, the doctor never came in to see me. If he thought I had something so serious that I had to be in an isolation room why didn't he come talk to me or even let me leave. My advice, if you have this guy in private practice or get him as a doctor run the other way! At the very least ask for another doctor. I wish you could rate some one in the negative or give 0 stars!
