“Poor in diagnosing a problem and lack of concern”
I developed extreme difficulty in urinating on Memorial weekend. Dr. Derksens office was closed but the emergency on call Doctor asked me to hold out until Tuesday. On Tuesday, I told Dr. Derksens office that I was in terrible discomfort and needed to come in immediately. I went in for an 11:00 am appointment. I gave a urine sample and had an ultrasound to determine that my bladder was empty. The nurse told me that the soonest that I could see Dr. Derksen was in 10 days and made me an appointment 10 days latter. I told the nurse that this was an emergency and that I could not wait. The nurse said that was the best that she could do. Two days latter I called Dr. Derksens office again and told them that I was extreme pain and that I needed to see Dr. Derksen. At Dr. Derksens office, I was told that he was in, but I would only be seeing the nurse. I told them that this was an emergency and that I needed to see Dr. Derksen. I was told that I had an appointment in 8 days. I then went to another Urology Clinic and the Doctor informed me that I had a serious prostate infection and started me on 30 days of antibiotics along with a prostate medication to relax the prostate. I endured 6 days of needless discomfort and pain for no reason. Dr Derksens lack of concern was inexcusable.
