“A very caring doctor”

He is very responsive. Calls me as soon as blood work comes in to discuss results, often in the evening. Has reviewed a number of possible medications to help me though after researching their side effects and my other conditions, including talking to my other doctors we had to reject them. He is very caring and concerned and always calls back if I have a question or concern.

Dr. Epstein spends an appropriate amount of time examining me, explaining blood work and Urinalysis results, Kidney counts to me and instead of a nurse performing these other tasks, Dr. Epstein himself takes my Vitals. He asks question about what I do to help make my health better, etc. He's very thorough with me.

The man is brilliant, attentive, detail oriented and fanatasically tuned in to his patient. I've had nephrology care at Sinai & NYU. Neither came anywhere close to the thoroughness & complexity I get from Dr. Lakkis. He has answered every question, explained every test result, and dealt with all the secondary issues related to kidney disease like NO other nephrologist, yet he is very upbeat and encouraging. And I am a nervous, scared, not the easiest patient. I wish every doctor practiced medicine at his level of detail .and individualized care I worry that it will be difficult to get an appointment now that he is taking on a new position.

“Didn’t build confidence or trust”

Dr Bohmart didn’t appear to be listening and grasping what I am trying to say. He didn’t even have a diagnosis or explanation to my situation. Simply asked me to continue follow ups with my regular nephrologist. People visit rogosin to get some expert opinion and explanation for their problem

He suggested to get kidney biopsy done to have correct diagnosis but when I said my regular nephrologist didn’t want to do it for my case considering risk vs benefits he immediately agreed.

I would have felt confident if he was quick enough to catch what I was saying and provide a detailed explanation of situation rather than saying I agree with your regular nephrologist.

Doctor Bohmart is just so kind and thoughtful. He had an idea for an invasive test. I brought up some thoughts about my other organ cancer treatment. He took his time and looked into it and called and decided I didn’t need it. Adjusted the other treatment. So far it looks like I didn’t. need the test. Dr Shimonov is always late. If my appointment is at 1:40pm he’ll call me in his office at 1:55 pm. Right away he takes my blood pressure which is high due to exertion. Then he looks at the computer, checking different charts and asks if anything has changed from the last time. His notes about my Losartan medication don't reflect the change he made from 50mg to 25mg even though I informed him and his secretary Susan. Also, in his notes, he mentioned that “he lives alone in Queens in a 1 bedroom apartment”: how is that medically relevant? He was highly recommended to me by my primary care physician, Dr Paul Fenyves but my impression of Dr Simonov is that even though he is a good nephrologist, to me he comes across as a rushed professional, hurrying to meet his busy schedule.
