When you’re a caregiver, you know how hard it can be to care for someone while still living a life of your own. If you’re called out of town, need medical attention yourself or simply need to take a break, our hospice team can coordinate a short-term stay for your loved one at our inpatient facility.
ECU Health also provides inpatient hospice services at several hospitals throughout our region. You and your family will have access to all the support services you need to honor life’s final journey with comfort, dignity and peace.
Hospice is specialized care for individuals with a terminal or life-limiting illness. Patients whom have chosen not to seek curative treatment embrace the hospice philosophy. The focus and goal for a hospice patient is to have symptoms and pain managed while maintaining quality of life and dignity for their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, social, emotional and spiritual support for the patient and family. Hospice does not hastens or slows the natural dying process.
Hospice is about hope, love, care, comfort and compassion.
Each person’s experiences will be unique. The care is personalized and designed to meet each patient’s choices and goals. This is a journey. ECU Health hospice team is honored to support you and your family during such an incredibly important time.
Volunteers are a very important part of hospice. To become a hospice volunteer call 252-847-1230 and ask to speak with the volunteer coordinator.
