“Frenectomy on 5 week old - sore breastfeeding, nursing blister on baby”
Dr. Haller makes you feel like family! She ensures that every visit is as comfortable as possible, for parents and baby, while sharing her knowledge and empowering you. I met Dr. Haller in search of a second opinion for a recommended frenectomy to correct my (then, 4 week old) baby's lip and tongue ties. When breastfeeding, I was experiencing pain when he would latch, and extreme discomfort and nipple soreness thereafter. Dr. Haller quickly identified the lip tie, noting that because he could not flange his upper lip, the baby had developed a nursing blister/callous and could not get good seal on the breast, resulting in his excessive gas. Dr. Haller also noted the tongue tie prevented him from opening his mouth wide enough to take in a sufficient amount of breast, resulting in my pinched nipples. I was confident in her ability, and we have been so pleased with the results of the 10 minute procedure. In the past week, I have had no pain when the baby latches. He is able to flange his top lip and get a seal on the breast, so the nursing blister is healing, and he is able to suck longer and more efficiently. I've gone from nursing every 2 hours to him sleeping for a 4 hour stretch during the night. He makes more eye contact while nursing, and is more vocal (cooing and babbling) while awake. The follow-up exercises have been easy to complete. It was a wonderful decision to bring our son to Dr. Haller!
