When I went in for my annual visit, Dr Bevan-Thomas recommended the Urolift procedure to alleviate my frequent going to the bathroom, I was having to go more than 5 times after going to bed every night. After surgery recovery will be different for each individual. My experience involved a longer than anticipated time requiring a catheter due to my bladder having shrunk over the years, dealing with a prostate over three times its normal size. However, as recovery progressed passed the removal of the catheter, I was very pleased with the results. I now get up once and sometimes twice at night. At the time of this writing, it has been nine weeks since surgery. I would highly recommend this surgery to anyone with a very large prostate and all the issues that go with it.

I have been Doc BT's patient for about six years. He and his staff have always been personable and professional. This was re-enforced by my very positive experience with prostate reduction surgery performed by "BT". There was minimal pain and what there was, was well managed with drugs. The only noticeable pain for the first 4-5 days was from trying to stand up from sitting or laying. I regret not renting or buying a "lift" recliner for those days. This issue may be bad fitness and/or age-related (74). The overall TURP outcome was great. With my restored urine stream I can again put out campfires and make drawings in the snow. My wife, the retired surgical nurse, is also a "BT" fan.

I explained my issues to Dr. Bevins-Thomas and he thoroughly explained the different procedures to reduce my enlarged prostate. I chose the robotic prostatectomy as recommended by Dr. Bevins-Thomas. I could not be happier that I elected to have the surgery after struggling with frequent urination and interrupted sleep for several years. Taking Tamsulosin (Flomax) did not provide the solution needed for my enlarged prostate which eventually progressed to urinary incontinence and the inability to take extended trips. My urinary flow is where it was in my 20s and I'm in my mid sixties. I sleep throughout the night and can go on long trips without the need to make restroom stops. Totally satisfied with the results of the procedure. The post-surgery follow-ups were great.

I came in to ask about a prostate procedure that I had seen in an ad. After consultation and examination, Dr. B-T recommended a different procedure that he felt would be much more appropriate for my particular situation. We went with that procedure. He told me in advance that full recovery would take as long as three months. He was right! Along the way, whenever my anxiety levels went up because I didn’t think I was making any progress, he was good to reassure me and remind me that this would be a distance run, not a sprint. I came in to ask about a prostate procedure that I had seen in an ad. After consultation and examination, Dr. B-T recommended a different procedure that he felt would be much more appropriate for my particular situation. We went with that procedure. He told me in advance that full recovery would take as long as three months. He was right! My big fear was urine leakage after the surgery. Dr Bevin-Thomas was great! He explained the surgery and the prospects for a full recovery. The surgery went well and other than soreness across my stomach I never had to take a pain pill. After getting the pubic tube removed, urine leakage has been minimal and very manageable. Dr Bevin-Thomas has given me exercises to do and I expect to have full control of my bladder soon. As far as major surgery goes, this was a great experience.
