It was a good experience with Dr. Ireland. She actually saw an interim treatment before doing cataract surgery which was 'low pressure glaucoma' - something I've never heard of. I was honestly a bit skeptical. But I've been putting the prescribed drops in my eyes for maybe 3 weeks now and I do sense my vision improving which is somewhat miraculous to me. I'm a computer programmer and was having trouble reading text, and as I type this review I can see the text much more clearly than a month ago. I'm obviously quite impressed with that.

My eye doctor was tracking my cataracts for the past 2 years and told me I most likely would qualify but never pushed me into scheduling the evaluation and told me I would know when I was ready. I finally made the decision to go for the evaluation and am very pleased with the results. If I had know how wonderful it would be not to wear glasses and have clear vision again, I would have done this much sooner. Thank you for the excellent results!

Initially I was a bit worried with the size of the size of the practice. It felt like I was part of a large assembly line, and that I wase more of a number rather than a patient. My perspective changed to more.positive tone as I was going through the process of preparing for my procedure. The staff, for the most part, were polite and professional. However, one cannot over emphasize the fact that I was nervous about the procedure. It must be difficult to maintain ones humanity when working in such a stressful environment. Lord I couldn't do it. Imagine a room full of geriatric patients who have certain expectations that may seem excessive, at times. The nurse who took care of me was very kind and patient. It precisely the humanity I was referring to. Initially I was a bit worried with the size of the size of the practice. It felt like I was part of a large assembly line, and that I wase more of a number rather than a patient. My perspective changed to more.positive tone as I was going through the process of preparing for my procedure. The staff, for the most part, were polite and professional. However, one cannot over emphasize the fact that I was nervous about the procedure. It must be difficult to maintain ones humanity when working in such a stressful environment. Lord I couldn't do it. Imagine a room full of geriatric patients who have certain expectations that may seem excessive, at times. The nurse who took care of me was very kind and patient. It precisely the humanity I was referring to. I feel that it is the responsibility of the doctor/practice to find a suitable antibiotic for the patient. They should have at their disposal several alternatives in case the patient is allergic to antibiotics. I felt that I was on a treadmill trying to get clearance for the drugGatifloxacin. Allergist in The Villages would test for penicillin. UF Health Shane’s would not test for Gatifloxacin. When I called your office back they said they could use Polytrim…so I set up another appointment to set up surgery. Assistant gave me all the needed info about surgery and I thought it was a GO then Dr. Ireland came in and said she would not do surgery using Polytrim and that I needed to find someone to do allergy testing for Fluoroquinolonels. After consulting with an optometrist friend…I’ve decided your practice is not a FIT for me, I will go somewhere else for a second opinion. I would NOT recommend your practice to any of my friends.
